Today, I want to share something a little different from what I usually talk about, but it’s something that’s been a game changer for me, which is using Dermaroller and Minoxidil together for hair growth.

If you’ve been on your own hair growth journey, you’ve probably heard about these two popular tools. But have you wondered how to combine them for the best results?

Well, I’ve been testing this combo out, and let me tell you the results have been pretty impressive!

And I`m going to walk you through how I personally use them to get the most out of this hair treatment.

However, I should mention that this hair treatment might not work on everybody, It could be different from person to person. Even, I did a lot of research before starting using this combination. So let’s dive in!

How It Work on Me so Far

Before I dive into my routine, I’d like to share how it has been working for me. I’ve been using Minoxidil for a little over three months now, along with derma rolling.

And I’ve noticed significant hair growth compared to when I first started.

During the first month, I experienced a shedding phase, which, based on my research, is completely normal. This phase involves shedding weaker hair to make way for new growth.

So far, I’ve been consistent in applying Minoxidil and using the derma roller without missing a day. While I don’t believe missing an occasional application would drastically impact the results.

I make it a point to stay diligent, Consistency is key to achieving the best results as quickly and effectively as possible!

My Weekly Dermarolling and Minoxidil Routine

If you’re on a hair growth journey, combining dermarolling and minoxidil could be a game-changer. As I’ve been following this routine for some time now, and the results have been promising.

Below, I’ll break down my weekly routine, the tools I use, and the extra steps I take to ensure safe and effective results.

1. Dermarolling: The Basics

Dermarolling involves using a tool with tiny needles to create micro-injuries on the scalp, promoting blood circulation and enhancing the absorption of treatments like minoxidil.

I will breakdown few points that I’ve been focuses on.

1.1 Needle Size

I use the Koi Beauty Derma Roller with a needle size of 0.5mm. This size is effective for stimulating hair growth without causing unnecessary damage.

1.2 Preparing the Scalp

I always start with wet hair: Wet hair prevents strands from getting tangled in the dermaroller needles.

And always sterilize the dermaroller: Always clean the dermaroller before and after each use to avoid infections.

1.3 Rolling Technique

I roll the dermaroller in all directions for even coverage on my scalp:

Vertical: 3 rolls forward (avoid rolling backward), Horizontal: 3 rolls forward, Diagonal (both directions): 3 rolls forward each way.

I focus extra attention on thinning areas, like my mid-scalp, where I notice diffuse hair loss.

1.4 Frequency

I stick to using the 0.5mm needle once a week. Overdoing it can irritate the scalp, so it’s essential to give your skin time to heal between sessions.

2. Applying Minoxidil: My Routine

Minoxidil is a proven treatment for promoting hair growth, and combining it with dermarolling enhances its effectiveness. Here’s how I apply it:

2.1 Dosage and Frequency

I use Kirkland 5% Minoxidil Solution, the topical solution which comes in 6 month supply in it:

Twice a day: One session in the morning and another session, about 2 hours before bedtime, since the scalp needs to get dry fully before go to bed to avoid product transfer to my pillow or unnecessary absorption.

1ml per application: I follow the instructions provided with the product, and apply Minoxidil with the dropper provided with the topical solution.

2.2 Timing with Dermarolling

After dermarolling, I wait 20-30 minutes before applying minoxidil. This allows my scalp to settle and avoids letting the solution penetrate too deeply, which could cause irritation.

On non-dermarolling days, I apply minoxidil as usual.

2.3 Dry Hair is the Key

I ensure my hair is completely dry even before applying minoxidil on my scalp.

3. Extra Help: Scalp Care and Shampoo

To further support my hair growth efforts, I’ve included these extra steps in my routine:

3.1 Using a Better Shampoo

I use SheaMoisture Strengthen and Restore Shampoo, which helps to strengthen and restore my hair. I wash my hair with this shampoo once every two days to keep my scalp clean and healthy.

3.2 Scalp Massaging

Using a Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush, I gently massage my scalp to improve blood circulation. This simple step helps nourish hair follicles and supports overall scalp health.

4. Tips for Safe and Effective Results

Achieving great results requires careful attention to safety and consistency. Here are the key tips that I follow:

4.1 Always Sterilize Your Dermaroller

Before and after every use, I clean my dermaroller to prevent any unnecessary infections.

4.2 Start Slow

Begin with fewer sessions and shorter needles (like 0.5mm) to allow your scalp to adjust. Gradually increase the frequency if your skin tolerates it well.

4.3 Avoid Overdoing It

Using needles that are too long or rolling too frequently can damage your scalp. Stick to a safe routine, like once every week with a 0.5mm needle.

4.4 Listen to Your Scalp

If I notice excessive redness, irritation, or discomfort, I take a break and let my scalp heal before continuing the routine.

4.5 Apply Minoxidil Carefully

I don’t use it too much, especially after rolling. A thin layer is all you need.

Following this above structured routine, which combining a dermaroller with minoxidil has been a game-changer for my hair growth journey.

The positive results inspired me to share my routine and experience with you, giving you a helpful starting point for your own path to healthier, fuller hair.

The key is understanding how to use them safely and effectively, choosing the right needle length, spacing out your sessions, and timing the minoxidil application just right.

If you’re just starting out, take it slow! And do your own research, as the result could be different person to person. Remember, consistency is key, and results take time!
